House #141
Tyanna Green grew up in Champaign and is a proud lifelong member of the community. As a Champaign Central High School graduate, she later pursued her passion for the culinary arts, earning her certification from the Escoffier School of Culinary Arts in 2019. Tyanna currently works for food service in Champaign Unit 4 Schools, where she has dedicated over eight years to serving the students in her community.
Tyanna’s favorite thing about Champaign-Urbana is the strong sense of community and the opportunities it provides for her and her family. As a devoted mother to three daughters, they have been the driving force to begin her journey to homeownership. Her oldest is hardworking and always encourages her to chase her dreams, her middle is equally supportive and excited for her mother to reach this milestone, and her youngest is looking forward to having a brand-new home to grow up in. Their love and encouragement have helped Tyanna every step of the way.
She enjoys cooking, traveling, DIY projects, and hosting gatherings. More than anything, she values quality time with loved ones and creating a warm, welcoming space where memories can be made. Reflecting on the impact of purchasing a home with Habitat, Tyanna says, “My family will now have a safe and loving home to gather and create memories for generations to come.”
Becoming a homeowner has been a lifelong vision for Tyanna, and upon learning about Habitat for Humanity, realized her dreams could become a reality. “I always envisioned myself as a homeowner. I felt Habitat was a great opportunity to pursue because it provides all the resources that I needed to become a first-time homeowner,” she says. The support and education she received through the program have not only prepared her for homeownership but given her a deeper appreciation for the process and the people involved. Tyanna shares, “My family will be tremendously impacted by seeing firsthand how dreams come true. They will experience a demonstration of unity within our community.”
One of her favorite parts of the process has been working alongside the dedicated staff and volunteers who make homeownership possible for families like hers, sharing, “My favorite part so far is being around welcoming and helpful community volunteers from all walks of life.”
To the partners, volunteers, and organizations involved in building her home, Tyanna expresses heartfelt gratitude: “Thank you to all the people who put in countless hours and hard work to make our dream home come true!”
