Our Home Buyers must meet the following criteria:
1. Need for adequate housing
Families must have a genuine need for adequate housing, for example, if they are living in a overcrowded space, the housing cost is too high for their income, the neighborhood or the housing structure is unsafe or any other legitimate reason.
2. Ability to pay
Qualified applicants have a steady income that gives them the ability to make an initial down payment and pay a low-cost monthly mortgage payment, homeowners insurance and moving costs. Qualified applicants must also have no current or pending defaults, unpaid judgements or liens.
3. Willingness to partner with Habitat
We expect all families to contribute the building of their own homes by providing at least 300 hours of sweat equity. You can earn hours by volunteering at build sites, volunteering at the ReStore, and attending Habitat homebuyer/ financial educational classes.
