Hudson Family

House # 139

Concetta Hudson has dreamed of a stable, forever home for her family. As a longtime resident of Champaign-Urbana, she is now able to take a life-changing step towards homeownership. For Concetta, this home means more than just shelter, it symbolizes security, safety, and a fresh start. For the past two years, she has worked for the State of Illinois Department of Human Services as a caregiver offering compassion and support to those who need it. Her commitment to serving others matches her dedication to her family’s future.

Concetta’s motivation is deeply rooted in her love for her children and her desire to give them a safe and permanent place to grow up. She is a proud mother of two, a bright 8-year-old son and a sweet, loving 21-month-old daughter. Her son is known for his kindness, generosity, and people-loving personality. Her daughter, the baby of the family, is caring and affectionate. Concetta describes her as her little “Care Bear.”

With this new chapter, Concetta can finally take a deep breath now that stability is within reach. “No more worries about finding a place to live,” she said. “My kids and I will have a forever home.” She’s especially excited that her children will have their own backyard to play in, something they have never had before. This home will give them not just space, but a strong sense of belonging.

One of the highlights of her journey has been getting to choose the details of her future home. The process has allowed her to create a space that truly reflects her family’s personality. What has meant the most is the warmth and support of the Habitat community. “Everyone makes you feel welcome, like family.” Whether it’s staff, volunteers, or fellow homeowners, Concetta has felt surrounded by kindness and care.

To the partners, volunteers, and organizations involved in building her home, Concetta expresses heartfelt gratitude: “I would like to give a big thank you to everyone involved in helping my dream come true. I really appreciate you all, and my family and I are forever grateful!
