Habitat for Humanity is an ecumenical Christian ministry. Our belief is that all people should have a safe, decent place in which to live. We invite people of all faiths to join our mission to provide a “hand up” to increase the strength, stability, and self-reliance of families in our community.
Habitat for Humanity was founded on the “Theology of the Hammer”, a concept developed by our founder, Millard Fuller, that mandates us to put our faith and love into action and make them come alive for people. This theology is also about bringing a wide diversity of groups together to build and renovate houses and establish viable, dynamic communities. It acknowledges that our political, philosophical and theological differences exist, but we can all find common ground using the hammer as an instrument of God’s Love. Habitat’s work is the common ground for interfaith efforts with the entire community.
“Our mission is about tearing down walls and building bridges.
It’s about offering hope and transforming lives, serving God by serving others.”
