Brittany Chaney is a lifelong resident of Champaign County residing in Rantoul for most of her life, including graduating from Rantoul Township Highschool. Turning her desire to help others into a career, she works as a Residential Aid for Villas of Holly Brook Assisted Living & Memory Care.
Outside of work, she enjoys playing basketball with her children and spending time with her family. She is a proud mother of three children, two daughters and a son. Her oldest daughter, currently serving as Junior Miss Rantoul, is described as bright and happy—a quality she gets from her mother. Her middle daughter is smart and enjoys challenges, and her son loves games. Brittany’s children have been the motivation for her homeownership journey as she aspires for a space of her own that her family will have forever.
Brittany hopes that during the homebuilding process, her children see the dedication it took and the people that helped them along the way, sharing, “People come together to help one another, and someday, you will return the favor”. While you will find Brittany on the build-site contributing volunteer hours towards her home, you can find her children helping by picking up trash at the Boneyard Creek Community Day or taking care of Habitat’s Community Garden, demonstrating the true community effort involved in partnering with Habitat.
The most impactful element of her partnership with Habitat has been seeing the countless community members unrelated to her coming together to help her achieve this milestone. Brittany shares that this opportunity is important for those lacking confidence or knowledge but wanting to become a homeowner by recalling, “You are not alone. Any question you have, there is always someone there to help you”.
To the partners, volunteers, and organizations involved in building her home, Brittany expresses heartfelt gratitude: “Thank you! You really make me feel welcomed and I will forever be grateful for this experience”.
